Emotional intelligence is a measure of how good you are at interpreting, understanding and acting on your emotions and the emotions of others.

As much as we’d like to keep you right here and thinking we’re wonderful, that wouldn’t exactly support our argument so below are just a small spattering of references for your consideration.

Naturally, people with a high degree of emotional intelligence make more money—an average of $29,000 more per year than people with a low degree of emotional intelligence. The link between emotional intelligence and earnings is so direct that every point increase in emotional intelligence adds $1,300 to an annual salary. These findings hold true for people in all industries, at all levels, in every region of the world. We haven’t yet been able to find a job in which performance and pay aren’t tied closely to emotional intelligence.

Forbes states, “According to TalentSmart, who tested emotional intelligence alongside 33 other important workplace skills. They found that emotional intelligence is the strongest predictor of performance, explaining a full 58% of success in all types of jobs.”

According to Chris DulewiczMike Young, and Victor Dulewicz in their Journal published 2015, “Companies, who have executives with higher levels of emotional intelligence, are more likely to be highly profitable.”

 

Harvard Business School, as of 2018, has over 1000 articles, books, white papers, case studies and videos on the subject and now has a full Leadership Development course curriculum ranging from $10,000 to $15,500.
 
Business Insider states, “In the 1990s, L’Oreal started using emotional intelligence in its hiring of salespeople. Those hired with consideration of their emotional know-how sold $91,370 more on average per year than their peers, for a net revenue increase of over $2.5 million.”
Even therapists today are studying EQ to help their patients in self-development. This article from Psychology Today flatly declares in its title,

“… Emotionally Intelligent May Earn More Money”

And finally, simply because, If my point isn’t made by now, you refuse to listen, Fast Company shares yet another article here. One of my favorite quotes, “People increasingly rely on each other to get things done and that means understanding each other’s motives and emotions is a lot more important than it used to be.”
